The Tomball Chamber of Commerce's annual Chairman's Ball will celebrate the pre-rodeo season with western-themed entertainment. The Feb. 3 event will also serve as a welcome to incoming board chairman Richard Jennings, pastor or River of Praise Church.

"He [Jennings] has a wide range of experience and we think he is going to bring a lot of great ideas to the chamber," said Brandy Beyer, vice president of operations.

Mary Whitaker, who was selected as the citizen of the year, will be recognized as well. The selection committee — which is composed of four board members and several past honorees — chose Whitaker for her long-standing support and involvement in community groups, such as TOMAGWA HealthCare Ministries, Beyer said.

Cut-a-Rug Dance Studios is set to perform at the ball, and Rancho Grande Mexican Restaurant will provide dinner.

"It will be fun, energetic and a great opportunity to network with other member businesses," Beyer said.

She said she expects at least 200 people to attend.

The event will take place at 6:30 p.m. at Tin Hall, located at 14800 Tin Hall Road , Cypress. Attendees are asked to dress in western wear or business casual.

Tickets are $40 and may be purchased in advance at the Chamber office or by calling the Chamber at 281-351-7222.

Sponsorships are available for $500 and $1000. Visit www.tomballchamber.org for more information.
