A new nonprofit dubbed "Shoot for Scholarships" launched earlier this year to support local youth in East Montgomery County.

The overview

According to a March 20 email for organization leaders, the nonprofit's mission is to empower and support local youth by providing scholarship to those aspiring to learn a specific trade or obtain a degree.

"We are dedicated to helping young people reach their full potential and become valuable contributors to their communities," the email reads. "Our goal is to make a positive impact on the furthering education for the youth of our community. At the heart of our committee is the desire to make a difference by supporting local New Caney [ISD] and Splendora [ISD] graduates. We are passionate about supporting students who are specifically planning to attend trade schools."
