The same week as elementary students began returning for in-person instruction, Humble ISD announced all classes and activities will be closed Aug. 26-27 in preparation for Hurricane Laura. There will also be no online classes for families that chose remote learning, according to a posting on the district's website.
According to a 12:17 p.m. tweet from HISD Superintendent Elizabeth Fagen, the hurricane could bring winds to the area on the two days, which is the main concern rather than rainfall.
Humble ISD Family - we will be closed tomorrow (Wednesday) and Thursday due to Hurricane Laura. The update this morning shows the potential for a significant wind event for @HumbleISD Wednesday night into Thursday. At this point, rainfall is not the concern. Please prepare.
