Here's the latest information on three Lake Houston-area transportation projects. This list is not comprehensive.



Upcoming projects

West Lake Houston Parkway Sidewalk, Phase 1


Project: This project will add sidewalks to both sides of West Lake Houston Parkway from Madera Run Parkway to Aerobic Avenue. The project aims to enhance pedestrian mobility in the area.


Update: This project is in the design phase, and construction is expected to begin later this year, according to a Jan. 5 email from Jeannie Peng, communications manager for Harris County Precinct 3.Ongoing projects

Northpark Drive overpass

Project: This project will expand Northpark Drive from four to six lanes between Hwy. 59 and Russell Palmer Road, and add an overpass over the Union Pacific Railroad and Loop 494.

Update: In a December newsletter, former Houston Mayor Pro Tem Dave Martin said the contractor Harper Bros. is continuing to work on the drainage components of the project and is also working to resolve utility conflicts. Detention pond excavation is also underway, and work has also been completed on sidewalks that link Kingwood and Lone Star College-Kingwood. Planning for Phase 2 of the project—east of the Kingwood diversion ditch—has also begun.Recently completed


Atascocita Road, Blackstone Trails Drive intersection improvements

Project: This project will install a new traffic signal at the intersection of Atascocita Road and Blackstone Trails Drive. The project aims to improve driver safety.

Update: As of Jan. 5, this project is substantially complete, and the signal is on, Peng said.
