1. Wilson Road expansion

The expansion of Wilson Road between just north of Beltway 8 and Atascocita Road is expected to enter the design phase in July. The findings of an engineering study will be presented at a July 19 Harris County Commissioners Court meeting. The project will expand the road from two and three lanes to four.

2. FM 1960 expansion

The Texas Department of Transportation is doing environmental studies on the expansion of FM 1960 between Humble and Atascocita. The existing four-lane undivided roadway will be converted to a six-lane divided highway between FM 1960 Business and Lake Houston. The project will also add sidewalks and calls for the creation of an overpass across West Lake Houston Parkway.

Timeline: 2022-2025 Cost: $98 million Funding sources: TxDOT

3. Lockwood Drive/Woodland Hills Drive expansion, extension

Phase 1 of the project, which expanded Lockwood Drive between North Lake Houston Parkway and the Union Pacific Railroad was completed in June. The road will be expanded from two to four lanes between North Lake Houston Parkway and Eagle Ridge Elementary School, where the road ends. At Eagle Ridge Elementary, a four-lane boulevard will be constructed to Rankin Road.

4. FM  1960 Business upgrades

TxDOT is resurfacing FM 1960 Business, constructing medians and installing sidewalks between west of Lee Road to east of Old Humble Road in Humble. The 8.2-mile stretch of improvements also includes drainage and intersection upgrades throughout the project.

5. Atasca Oaks Drive widening

Harris County precincts 2 and 4 are designing the widening of Atasca Oaks Drive from a two-lane roadway to a four-lane concrete boulevard from Atascocita Road to south of FM 1960. The project also includes traffic signal modifications at the intersection of Atasca Oaks Drive and Atascocita Road.

6. Northpark Drive expansion

The Lake Houston Redevelopment Authority is designing the expansion of Northpark Drive in Kingwood. The project will add a lane on each side of the road from Loop 494 to Woodland Hills with an overpass at the railroad tracks. The LHRA is seeking federal funds to help pay for the project.

Timeline: Construction could begin in 2019 Cost: $55 million Funding sources: LHRA, Montgomery County, TxDOT, private developers, Harris County precincts 2 and 4
