Per the release, Venekamp has served as the program director at Family Promise of Lake Houston for the past four years and has served as the organization's interim executive director for the past three months. Officials noted Venekamp was chosen from a field of highly qualified candidates and began her new role Jan. 3.
Based in Humble, Family Promise of Lake Houston serves low-income families that become homeless due to an unfortunate circumstance, such as fire, flood, the death of a spouse, loss of a job, an eviction or a foreclosure of a home. The nonprofit provides daily support and education programs that lead each family to permanent self-sufficiency with the help of more than 2,800 volunteers.
