Construction on a new addition to the Harris County Fire Marshal's Office training facility in Humble is slated to begin in January, according to a Nov. 14 filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

According to the filing, the roughly $2.9 million project will consist of a 5,900-square-foot building consisting of offices and classrooms.

The HCFMO training facility provides both classroom and hands-on hazardous material training for over-the-road trucking, rail, and pipeline incidents, according to the agency’s website. The facility also offers both high-angle and confined-space rescue training.

While a projected opening date was not included in the filing, construction on the project is expected to be completed by June.
