Sept. 23: Atascocita High School vs. Kingwood High School
Bragging rights within the Lake Houston area are on the line as as the Atascocita Eagles (2-0) take on the Kingwood Mustangs (1-2) in each team's district opener at Turner Stadium. Sept. 24:  Mothers Against Cancer 5K
Mothers Against Cancer hosts a 5K in Kingwood that raises money for pediatric cancer research at Texas Children’s Hospital. The event includes a timed race for people of all ages and a children’s race for those younger than 11 years old. It also features food, beverages, music and activities for children. 8 a.m. $35 (5K run/walk), $20 (children’s race). Sept. 24:  Autumn market
Mercer Botanic Gardens’ Autumn Plant Sale and Market features a variety of plants, including many that are grown at Mercer. The market also includes several vendors selling garden-related accessories and natural, environmentally friendly products. 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Free.
