What’s the biggest challenge the district is currently facing, and how do you plan to address it?
Our district faces a critical accountability gap, starting with the board and affecting every level. Lack of transparency, irresponsible spending and weak oversight have eroded trust, harmed students and disenfranchised staff. Strong governance—through oversight, ethical leadership, and checks and balances—can restore integrity and ensure decisions prioritize students and educators over…
How will you work to help the district move forward following the recent appointment of a new superintendent?
The board has a fiduciary obligation to hold Dr. Brown accountable by ensuring transparency, fiscal responsibility and measurable results. This means setting clear performance expectations, enforcing oversight and prioritizing the district’s financial and educational well-being. By remaining steadfast and focused on these responsibilities, the board can rebuild trust and keep…
How will you work to ensure campuses are adequately funded throughout the district?
The board is currently operating with a budget deficit and relying on the fund balance to cover its spending. This approach is unsustainable and could lead to future challenges in adequately funding our district. I will work to reduce wasteful spending by reviewing programs for efficiency, optimizing resources and prioritizing…
What’s the biggest challenge the district is currently facing, and how do you plan to address it?
Safety is paramount. We must ensure that we are right 100% of the time, as a breach of security only requires a single misstep. We are dedicated to enhancing security, have police presence at each school and are continually working to develop innovative measures to keep kids safe.
How will you work to help the district move forward following the recent appointment of a new superintendent?
We are fortunate to have a superintendent as exemplary as Dr. Brown. Under his inspirational and positive leadership, we will continue to advance our efforts with a focus on what’s best for our students. I look forward to collaborating with this new board in a supportive and constructive environment.
How will you work to ensure campuses are adequately funded throughout the district?
Last legislative session didn’t yield favorable outcomes for public education funding. I’m advocating this session for funding providing more resources that fully support our campuses including teacher compensation, safety, special education and more. We have been responsible stewards of public funds, consistently receiving a financial rating from TEA of “superior.”
