Editor’s note: this article has been updated to clarify that neither Rebecca Tribo nor Jason Andrews will appear on the ballot for Humble ISD’s May 3 board of trustees election.

Humble ISD’s board of trustees will see four contested races in the May 3 election that will result in at least two new faces on the board.

The details

Trustees approved an order calling for the election during the board’s Jan. 14 meeting. According to the order, elections will be held for the following positions May 3:
  • Position 1, currently held by Robert Sitton, who is not seeking re-election
  • Position 3, currently held by Chris Parker
  • Position 4, currently held by Ken Kirchhofer
  • Position 5, currently held by Martina Lemond Dixon, who is not seeking re-election
A closer look

The election will result in at least two new faces on the board following Sitton and Lemond Dixon’s announcements that they would not be seeking re-election.

According to campaign filing reports, the following candidates have filed to run:

Position 1:
  • Gracie De Leon
  • Oscar Silva
Position 3:
  • Natalie Carter
  • Chris Parker (incumbent)
Position 4:
  • Brittnai Brown
  • Ken Kirchhofer (incumbent)
  • Tracy Shannon
Position 5:
  • Judy Castillo
  • Scott Ford
  • Elizabeth Shaw
HISD officials noted Rebecca Tribo also filed to run for Position 1. However, HISD officials said Tribo's application wasn't completed correctly. Additionally, while Jason Andrews submitted an application to appoint a treasurer for his campaign, he did not submit an application to run on the ballot. As a result, neither Tribo nor Andrews will be listed on the ballot for the May 3 election, district officials said.

Parker and Kirchhofer will be running to defend their seats for the first time. Both Parker and Kirchhofer were first elected to the board in 2021.
