With all Harris County voting centers reporting election day results, Alan Garaza has won the May 28 Republican primary runoff for Congressional District 29.

According to results posted on the Harris County Clerk's Office website, Garza received 419 votes, or 53.72% of the total, while opponent Christian V. Garcia received 361 votes, or 46.28% of the total.

All results are unofficial until canvassed.

With 77 of 313 voting centers reporting election day results, Alan Garza has maintained his lead in the May 28 Republican primary runoff for Congressional District 29.

According to results posted on the Harris County Clerk's Office website, Garza has received 286 votes, or 56.08% of the total, while opponent Christian V. Garcia has received 224 votes, or 43.92% of the total.

According to results posted on the Harris County Clerk's Office website, early voting results are as follows:
  • Christian V. Garcia: 183 votes, or 44.31% of the total
  • Garza: 230 votes, or 55.69% of the total
Some context

As previously reported by Community Impact, Garcia and Garza were the top two vote-getters in the March primary election, during which they also faced Republican candidates Jose Casares and Angel Fierro. As neither candidate received more than 50% of the vote, Garcia and Garza faced each other again in the May 28 runoff election.


Who it affects

The district's boundaries follow along the northern and eastern portions of Beltway 8, and include portions of Humble, Houston and Pasadena, according to the Congressional District 29 website.

What's next

The winner of the Republican primary runoff election will face Democratic candidate and incumbent Sylvia Garcia—who has held the position since 2018—in the Nov. 5 election.
