Humble ISD officials will celebrate the opening of a new great outdoors-themed playground at Timbers Elementary, with a dedication ceremony Feb. 24 at 4:30 p.m.

The details

According to a Feb. 7 news release, the playground is designed for children ages 5-12 and includes the following features:
  • A mountain rope structure featuring a river rope bridge, a nearly 18 foot waterfall slide and a double zip line
  • An RV play structure featuring multiple interactive elements including a cliff rider
  • A swing set with ADA-accessible seating
  • A handicap-accessible universal carousel
  • Freestanding play elements including a fishing boat-themed springer, a jumping bridge, spinners and rocking equipment
The playground was designed and installed by KOMPAN, Inc., per the release.

Some context

The new playground marks the 15th installation as part of Humble ISD's ongoing campus playground revitalization initiative, which was included in the district's $775 million bond package approved by voters in 2022. Officials noted HISD playgrounds are open to the public when school is not in session.
