The details
According to a Jan. 8 district news release, the playground features a train, water tower and a collection of Western storefronts, including a bank, jail, general store and hotel. Additional attractions include spinners, swings, zip lines, a custom net climber shaped like a train and handicap-accessible poured-in-place rubber surfacing.
Who it's for
Officials noted the playground is designed for children ages 5-12 and is open to the public when school is not in session. The project was designed and installed by Lone Star Recreation of Texas.
Some context
Hidden Hollow's playground is the 14th new playground to open across HISD as part of a district-wide playground revitalization initiative included in the district's $775 million bond approved by voters in 2022.
