Lone Star College-Kingwood has begun its search for a new president, according to several university officials.

During the Partnership Lake Houston’s BizCom event Dec. 3, interim President Mario K. Castillo said he is temporarily replacing former President Katherine Persson, who retired.

According to Stephen Head, LSC chancellor, Persson’s last day was Aug. 31 but will officially leave office at the end of 2020. Castillo said the search for the new president has begun.

“The committee members have been selected; the job has been posted; the search firm has been engaged,” Castillo said. “We’re going to be reviewing resumes in the spring with the hope that over two or three months, we will have someone hired.”

Head said the college will begin reviewing applicants in the first two months of 2021.

Castillo said the campus hopes to have a new president by the summer session or the beginning of the fall semester.
