Student enrollment continues to trend upward in Humble and New Caney ISDs—both of which are fast-growth school districts. Because the 2020-21 enrollment numbers are estimates, it is unclear whether the coronavirus pandemic has slowed enrollment growth. NCISD has a higher percentage of economically disadvantaged students and English language learners than HISD and the state average.

School bond updates

Humble ISD's $575 million bond referendum from 2018
  • Construction was set to begin in late September on the new Ag Barn and North Transportation Center.
  • Renovations on Kingwood and Kingwood Park high schools will begin in November.
New Caney ISD's $200 million bond referendum from 2018
  • The Woodridge Forest Middle School expansion opened in September.
  • Clearing the land for the third comprehensive high school was 85% complete in mid-August.
