After assessing damage caused by Hurricane Harvey, Humble ISD announced its academic year will begin Sept. 7. However students at two campuses, Kingwood and Summer Creek high schools, begin the school year Sept. 11.

The district determined the students zoned to Kingwood High School will attend Summer Creek High School beginning Sept. 11, according to HISD board of trustee member Robert Sitton on Facebook.

The staff and families affected can vote on two options to split the Summer Creek campus.

With the first option, both schools attend school five days per week with Summer Creek students attending from 7-11:30 a.m. and Kingwood students arriving at noon and leaving for the day at 4:30 p.m., Sitton said.

With the second option, Summer Creek students attend the school Monday, Wednesday and Friday, while Kingwood students go to school on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
