A study of every facility and parcel of land owned by Humble ISD helped to identify and prioritize several projects as the district considers calling a bond election in 2018.

“[The full facility study] is a potential pathway into the future to meet the facility needs of the district,” HISD Superintendent Elizabeth Fagen said.

The $300,000 study by PBK Architects priced the district’s next three elementary schools in addition to High School No. 7 and provided the cost difference between the renovation and rebuild of Lakeland Elementary School in 2017 dollars.

Officials who conducted the study also determined the needs of each school and athletic facility by walking each building and meeting with administrators and maintenance workers at each campus.

The 500-page document will be posted on the district website, allowing parents to look at all of the needed projects at each school, board member Robert Sitton said. It will be published before the end of the week, an HISD spokesperson said.

The study will continue to be updated and could serve as a guide if a bond election is called, Fagen said.

“This is a living, breathing document,” she said. “There are things in this document that today absolutely are needs in the district, but tomorrow that may change … Items will continue to be updated and changed.”
