This is the first year the Texas Education Agency is using its new A-F accountability rating system to grade school districts on how campuses within the district performed during the previous school year. The TEA established its ratings by measuring numerous factors, including student performance and progress.

For its 2017-18 ratings, the TEA has established the Hurricane Harvey Provision, which provides school districts that were affected by the storm with some leniency. Based on this provision, if a school district that would have received a B, C, D or F rating fits certain criteria, the district is labeled Not Rated.

Humble ISD was one of the school districts to receive a Not Rated rating. The criteria used to determine this rating includes the number of students and teachers displaced by Hurricane Harvey as well as how the storm affected instructional time and school facilities within the school district.
