Thailand boxer and Humble resident Zee Cherdsak Putcharakom opened Baan Thai Cuisine in June 2021 to share authentic Thai cuisine with the Humble community.

Staying local

Originally from Thailand, Putcharakom said his decision to move from Thailand came about due to his desire to own a restaurant and bring authentic Thai food to the U.S.

Putcharakom's experience in the industry began in 2007 in Thailand where he worked as a cook for several restaurants.

Although he originally moved to San Francisco where he continued working in the restaurant industry, he eventually moved to the Humble area and opened a restaurant next to his mother’s business, Sabai Thai Massage.

Baan Thai Cuisine offers authentic Thai cuisine in a casual family-friendly environment, Putcharakom said.

The restaurant also holds small events such as birthday parties as well as an annual Thailand boxing show presented by the owner—an avid boxer—and his team.

On the menu

With fresh ingredients sourced from local farms, Asian markets and imported from Thailand, Baan Thai Cuisine offers a wide variety of Thai comfort food.

The restaurant's menu focuses on providing different spice levels ranging from mild to hot with quality ingredients as well as the presentation of its dishes.

Putcharakom said people are often hesitant to try Thai food due to its spice level, however Baan Thai Cuisine caters to any palate.

“There is something here for everyone,” Putcharakom said.

Some popular menu items include the appetizer Dragon Balls; Khao Soi Gai, a richly flavored broth; Kra Pow Tad, a basil stir-fry Thailand classic; and Thailand orange chicken made with unique Thai flavors.

The Thailand restaurant also offers Thai iced tea, Thai beer and Oregon wines from the Willamette Valley. Thai desserts offered include its famous mango with sweet sticky rice, mochi, and coconut ice cream.
