Dimassi’s Mediterranean Buffet plans to open a new location in early April at 20380 Hwy. 59 N., Humble. The all-you-can-eat lunch and dinner buffet will be the company’s largest and will offer over 60 different items including salads, main dishes, lamb shanks, desserts and more. Owners and Louisiana natives Kim and Belinda Williams plan to open Jambalaya King in mid-April at 16430 W. Lake Houston Parkway, Ste. 800, Humble. The 1,670-square-foot counter-service restaurant will serve a five-meat jambalaya, chicken and sausage gumbo, red beans and rice, smoked sausage po’boys with Jack Miller’s barbecue sauce, boudin and crawfish in season, as well as sides and desserts. Checkers will open a location in mid-April at 4892 FM 1960, Humble. The restaurant chain specializes in burgers and french fries but also serves hot dogs, fish sandwiches, chicken sandwiches, chicken wings and desserts. The Checkers and Rally’s franchise, which has 843 locations nationwide, plans to open 24 stores in the Greater Houston area in 2017. Spanish-influenced eatery El Pollo Loco is expanding with a new location in Kingwood. The chicken joint will open this spring in retail development Main Street Kingwood at the intersection of Kingwood Drive and West Lake Houston Parkway. The restaurant, whose name translates to “The Crazy Chicken,” is known for its signature citrus-marinated, fire-grilled chicken which can be prepared family-style or individually.
