Texas-based investment company Castle Hill Partners has begun development on a 1,373-acre master-planned community dubbed The Trails, officials announced in an Aug. 28 news release.

To be located near the Grand Parkway and Plum Grove Road, the Lake Houston-area community is expected to feature over 2,000 homesites and 600 acres of nature trails and outdoor recreation opportunities, per the release.

The details

Officials noted development of The Trails has been ongoing, with plans for the community to open in phases, with the first phase comprising 254 homesites. The community is expected to have furnished models and move-in ready homes available by spring 2024.

While no official groundbreaking schedule had been set as of press time, officials said land preparation is underway.

Additionally, officials said a Plum Grove Road expansion project to improve accessibility to the community is scheduled to begin later this year.

Upon completion, the community's design will incorporate the area’s existing natural elements—such as pine trees, streams and open spaces—to create an active-lifestyle and nature-oriented environment, said Tiffany McMillan, vice president of asset management for Castle Hill Partners, in the release.

The community is expected to feature an amenity village with various recreational facilities, including:
  • A resort-style family pool
  • A lap pool
  • Nature-themed playgrounds
  • A splash pad
  • A seating area for outdoor concerts
  • Space for food trucks
  • An open lawn with shade structures and winding pathways
