The East Montgomery County Improvement District board of directors voted to postpone its May 2 election until Nov. 3 amid the coronavirus crisis. The EMCID is an economic and community development organization created by state legislators.
The board of directors voted to postpone the election at a March 27 special meeting, according to a news release from the EMCID. The district was able to postpone the election due to a proclamation Gov. Greg Abbott issued March 18 that allows political subdivisions to postpone the election.
Positions 1, 2, 3 and 4 will be on the Nov. 3 general election ballot; Brenda Webb, Fred Wetz and Katherine Persson are seeking re-election for Positions 1, 2 and 4, respectively. They are uncontested. Position 3 was formerly held by Dale Martin, who died last August. Martin was first elected to Position 3 in 2012 and he was re-elected in 2016, according to EMCID officials.
Candidates Ronald Willingham, David Miller, Hank Vat and John Darst are running for the Position 3 seat.
