As homeowners begin the rebuild and repair process, the city of Humble is preparing for an influx of permit requests. Assistant City Manager Jason Stuebe said as a result, the city will be waiving all building, electrical, plumbing and HVAC permit fees related to the recovery of homes and businesses. City Hall reopens on Tuesday, Sept. 5, and will begin taking permitting requests then. If individuals are already working with contractors on repairs, the contractors should come to City Hall on Tuesday to apply for a retroactive permit, Stuebe said. The two city inspectors will be ready to go out and inspect any site necessary to grant permits and move the process along. "It is an it-is-what-it-is situation," Stuebe said. "They will likely be burning the midnight oil." Stuebe said he, too, is prepared to help move the process along as quickly as possible so the rebuild process can progress smoothly. The permit fee waiver will be in effect until Sept. 29.
