A new Harris County Toll Road Authority EZ Tag store is slated to open in northeast Houston, according to an Aug. 1 filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. EZ Tags are toll stickers that allow drivers to preload money onto their HCTRA account to electronically pay for toll fees without stopping at a toll booth, according to the department’s website.

Construction on the $13.5 million facility is scheduled to begin March 3 and wrap up by April 3, 2026, according to the filing. The new HCTRA EZ tag building will be around 16,751 square feet.
