Amazon is considering opening a delivery station in East Montgomery County, according to a Dec. 14 press release. This 150,000-square-foot station could open as soon as fall of 2021.

The station would receive packages from fulfillment and sorting centers and then load them onto trucks to deliver to customers. The station would bring about 100 full-time and part-time jobs to the area in addition to the delivery driver jobs it would create.

"We're just doing everything we can to help Amazon go through the necessary processes to get this deal done for East Montgomery County," said Frank McCrady, president and CEO of the East Montgomery County Improvement District. "We're very excited about the number of jobs this could bring for residents here."

There is no agreement between EMCID, but the district has been helping Amazon get the facility in place since August.

Kelley Mattlage, chief communications officer of the EMCID, said the station would be located somewhere in the Porter and New Caney area.
