The Katy area was under a flash flood warning during the morning of July 25 as a storm system crossed the area.

Between 3.6 inches to 8.64 inches of rain fell in the Katy area over 24 hours as of 5:01 p.m. June 25, according to the Harris County Flood Warning System.

For Katy, receiving 10.8 inches in a 24-hour period is considered a 25-year rain event, or an event with a 4% chance of occurring in any given year, according to national Atlas 14 rainfall estimates.

Update: 11:21 a.m. June 25

Between 3.6 inches to 8.3 inches of rain has fallen in the Katy area over the past 24 hours as of 11:15 a.m., according to the Harris County Flood Warning System. This is only a slight increase from the rainfall gauge data at 8:01 a.m.

For Katy, receiving 10.8 inches in a 24-hour period is considered a 25-year rain event, or an event with a 4% chance of occurring in any given year, according to national Atlas 14 rainfall estimates.



Update: 8:25 a.m. June 25

Between 3.44 inches to 8.2 inches of rain has fallen in the Katy area over the past 24 hours as of 8:01 a.m., according to the Harris County Flood Warning System.

The National Weather Service Forecast Office of Houston/Galveston issued a flash flood warning in the Katy area through 9:45 a.m. June 25. It states another 1-3 inches could fall between 7-9 a.m.
