Fort Bend County adopted a resolution with the Texas Department of Transportation to replace or structurally rehabilitate 11 bridges throughout the county. Two of those bridges are located within Precinct 1, near Katy.

Commissioners Court met Oct. 25 to approve this resolution.

Both bridges cross Brookshire Creek and have been deemed “functionally obsolete,” according to project documents.

One bridge is located on Hunt Road at Brookshire Creek, and is estimated to cost $84,700.

The other bridge in Precinct 1 is located on Pool Hill Road at Brookshire Creek. It is estimated to cost $48,642 to repair this structure.

Work to fix these bridges is approved through TxDOT’s off-state system federal aid Highway Bridge Replacement and Rehabilitation program.

A local match by the county was waived through TxDOT’s provisions for participant-waived projects under the condition that Fort Bend County would dedicate an equivalent dollar amount of structural improvement to other deficient bridges or deficient cross drainage structures within the county.

The total engineering cost for all 11 projects is estimated at $560,109. A timeline for these projects has yet to be determined.
