Fort Bend County Precinct 1 residents can expect a temporary road closure at the intersection of FM 1463 and Crossover Road from July 15-18 or one of the following two weekends, depending on the weather.

The county’s commissioners court approved the road closure at a July 7 meeting as necessary for construction on the Texas Department of Transportation's FM 1463 project, which will widen the road by adding lanes from Westridge Creek Lane up to Katy Freeway. Construction for the project in totality is set for completion by July 2025.

Detour signage will be placed to the east and west of Crossover Road along FM 1463 as well as the intersection between Crossover Road and Spring Green Boulevard, near the roundabout. TxDOT officials will communicate with Katy Fire Station No. 3 and affected local businesses in the areas where roads will be closed or detoured.

FM 1463 has two lanes with no median and open ditches on both sides. The purpose of this project, according to TxDOT, is to improve the safety, mobility and operational efficiency of the roadway. To do this, the department will widen the roadway from two lanes to four and six lanes, with a raised median and 5-foot sidewalks on both sides.

The project is 6.7 miles in length and would require 28 acres of additional right-of-way. TxDOT officials do not expect any residential or commercial displacements for this work.
