The Texas Department of Transportation is proposing to widen an existing section of FM 529.

This would transform the existing road from a two-lane road to a six-lane road with a raised median between SH 99 and Katy Hockley Cut Off Road. TxDOT would also widen another existing section of FM 529 from a two-lane road to a four-lane road with a raised median between Katy Hockley Cut Off Road and FM 362.

The project will stretch from the Grand Parkway to FM 362, according to Deidrea George, public information officer for TxDOT in Houston.

The project will be funded through federal funds for 80% of it, and the remaining 20% will be state funded. Since the project is still in its early stages, there is not set timeline for it yet, George said via email. It is currently expected to cost $123.4 million.
