Transportation Updates Westpark Tollway extension/FM 1093 widening[/caption]

1. Phase 1 Westpark Tollway extension/FM 1093 widening


FM 1093 will become concrete-paved, two-lane frontage roads on each side of the Grand Parkway, extending to Cross Creek Ranch Boulevard. The Westpark Tollway is being extended 2.3 miles west from its end point and will be four lanes of concrete-paved highway with two lanes in each direction. Overpass will be built above the intersection of Katy-Gaston Road and Spring Green Boulevard.


Timeline: February-February 2018
Cost: $63.9 million
Funding sources: Fort Bend County Assistance District 1, Fort Bend County Toll Road Authority, Emergency Services District 100



2. Katy-Gaston Road Realignment at FM 1093


Katy-Gaston Road will be widened and realigned along a 0.5-mile portion of the existing road. Starting at Summerset Ridge Lane, the road will be widened from a two-lane asphalt road to a four-lane concrete boulevard. The final 0.17-mile portion of the road will be realigned to the west and connected to Katy-Gaston Road south of FM 1093. The intersection will have traffic signals and go under the Westpark Tollway.


Timeline: July 2016-February 2017
Cost: $1.9 million
Funding source: Fort Bend County



Transportation Updates3. Spring Green roundabout


A four-legged roundabout will be constructed connecting the two existing segments of Spring Green Boulevard as well as Cinco Trace Drive and Katy Flewellen Road. In addition to constructing the two-lane, one-way roundabout, Cinco Trace Drive will be extended                     144 feet from its end point to the roundabout. Katy Flewellen Road will be widened from two to four lanes of concrete boulevard from Willow Lane 450 feet to the roundabout. The existing north and south segments of Spring Green Boulevard will be extended a total of 1,380 feet from their current end points to the roundabout.


Timeline: November 2016-March 2017
Cost: $3.7 million
Funding sources: Fort Bend County, Newland Communities



3A. Crossover Road relocation


A segment of Crossover Road starting at the new Spring Green roundabout and extending west 1,344 feet will be removed. Crossover Road will then be rebuilt from the western end point in a northeast direction 1,100 feet and connected to Spring Green Boulevard north of the planned roundabout. The new segment of Crossover Road will be four lanes of concrete boulevard with underground storm drains on one side. The land vacated by the road’s removal will be returned to the adjacent landowners. The original Crossover Road will remain open during construction of the realigned portion.


Timeline: : June-October
Cost: Funding for the project is included in the Spring Green roundabout project

3B. Crossover Road widening


The two-lane, asphalt segment of Crossover Road starting at FM 1463 and extending east 3,100 feet will be widened to four lanes of concrete boulevard with underground storm drains on one side. The widened segment and the relocated 1,100-foot segment will be joined together and will connect to Spring Green Boulevard.


Timeline: January 2017-November 2017
Cost: $3.5 million
