Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital has widened the scope of its pediatric services to include a pediatric hospitalist team, per a July 5 news release. According to WebMD, hospitalists have the same training and education as a primary care doctor, but they just work in a hospital setting to bridge the gap among emergency room, hospital care and primary care. Memorial Hermann Katy’s pediatric services also include pediatric general surgery, pediatric cardiology, pediatric orthopedics and other pediatric subspecialties.

“It has always been our goal to keep up with the rapid growth in Katy, and these moves are meant to reflect that,” said Jerry Ashworth, senior vice president and CEO of Memorial Hermann Katy and Cypress hospitals. “We do not see these additions as the end of our growth—we will continue adding to our pediatric services to meet the demand of our surrounding neighborhoods.”
