Johnson Development has closed on a 630-acre parcel adjacent to its Harvest Green community in Richmond that will add about 1,400 homes to its master plan, according to a June 17 press release. Homesites should be ready for builders by the second quarter of 2022.

“Our farm-themed community has resonated with buyers looking for a more sustainable lifestyle,” Harvest Green General Manager Jerry Ulke said in the release. “The past two years, Harvest Green has ranked among the nation’s 50 top-selling master-planned communities, and last year we sold nearly 500 new homes. Because of last year’s robust sales, builders had fewer than 100 homesites for all of 2021. This additional land will meet that obvious demand.”

The new section will feature a variety of home styles, with designs for properties ranging from 40 to 75 feet wide, according to the release. Models are expected to open in fall 2022 with home sales beginning around that time. Builders and pricing have not been determined.

The new section also will offer additional community amenities, including parks, trails, green space and a pool, according to the release. Residents will have access to existing Harvest Green amenities, including the Village Farm. Oyster Creek winds through the new property for approximately 1.7 miles.

Current Harvest Green builders include Coventry Homes, David Weekley Homes and Perry Homes. Pricing is from the $300,000s.

Central to the Harvest Green lifestyle is the 12-acre Village Farm, which features fields of produce, an orchard, a vineyard, and pens for goats and chickens. Residents can join the Farm Club and have access to plots where they can grow their own produce under the guidance of professional farmers. A farmers market is held the third Saturday of each month.

Residents can also enjoy the Farmhouse recreation complex, which features a fitness center and resort-style pool, trails, parks and playgrounds, according to the release. Also located on-site is the Messina Hof Harvest Green Winery & Kitchen.
