In November, three of the five propositions from Lamar Consolidated ISD’s $1.3 billion bond passed, promoting the construction of new schools and sites; renovations to older facilities; distribution of technology equipment to students and staff; and funds for the remaining projects out of the 2020 bond package.

In 2023, 10 projects resulting from the bond are anticipated to start construction, and 10 more are planned for completion.

To this end, Terrell and Gray elementary schools are both slated for completion in June, and three more elementary schools are anticipated for completion in July 2024.

Renovations and additions to Huggins, Austin, Bowie and Beasley and Jackson elementary schools are projected for completion in the first and second quarters of 2023, in the six-month expanse between February and July.

Renovations to Navarro Middle School, Taylor Ray Elementary School and Meyer Elementary School as well as security vestibule additions are anticipated for completion in November.

The majority of renovations, repairs and additions to 10 other district schools are planned to start construction in March, according to district officials.

Additionally, Tomas High School and Banks Junior High School are expected to leave the design phase and start construction in May, and additional sports field seating at Fulshear, Foster, Ranch and Randle high schools will begin construction in June.
