Sanée Bell, who has served Katy ISD for the last twenty years in varying capacities, was unanimously approved by Katy ISD’s board of trustees as the new assistant superintendent for teaching and learning on March 28. Her previous role was executive director for secondary teaching and learning.

Bell brings over 22 years of experience to the assistant superintendent position. According to a press release by the district, she began as a language arts teacher in Louisville, Kentucky, in 2000, moved to Texas in 2002 and became an English teacher and basketball coach at Katy High School. She received a promotion to the role of assistant principal at West Memorial Junior High and WoodCreek Junior High, and then elevated to principal of Cimarron Elementary School in 2011.

During her tenure at Cimarron, Bell was recognized as the 2015 Katy ISD Elementary Principal of the Year. The following year, she became the principal of Morton Ranch Junior High, until accepting the position as executive director of secondary teaching and learning in 2021.

Bell looks forward to continuing her service within the district, she said in the press release.

“Katy ISD has always held a special place in my heart. To serve such a thriving and diverse school district is an honor that I cherish dearly,” Bell said. “In this new role, I, along with the other team members that compose the teaching and learning division, will focus on ensuring that the more than 90,000 students we support are engaging in learning experiences that prepare them for their future.”

Bell holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and Allied Language Arts from Western Kentucky University as well as a Master of Science in Educational Management and a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership with an emphasis in curriculum and instruction from The University of Houston-Clear Lake.
