Hours after canceling all after-school activities, Katy ISD will closes all of its schools and facilities Feb. 4, the district announced Feb. 3.
"Weather reports are indicating that roadways are expected to be impacted by the freeze, though will be clear by tomorrow afternoon," the district said in the announcement.
The announcement comes ahead of cold weather that is expected to bring temperatures in the low 20s with windchill in the teens Feb. 3-4, according to the National Weather Service. In addition, anywhere from 0.01-0.10 inches of freezing rain/ice is expected into the late hours of Feb. 3 and early Feb. 4 for Fort Bend County, according to the National Weather Service.
