The Social Pub & Grill off Spring Green Boulevard is a place where everybody knows your name.

As customers chow down on grub and sip beer, co-owners Steve Brown and Chris Hearrean walk around the restaurant, shaking hands with regulars, greeting newcomers and busing tables in between.

“The food is fantastic, and they take care of their people, know customers on a first-name basis and know what drink you like,” said Simon Goodridge, who stopped by The Social Pub on a November afternoon. “If you come on your own, they make you feel like family.”

Brown and Hearren set out to create a local neighborhood bar with higher quality food than the average pub, Brown said. The menu includes mini pork shanks atop sweet potato waffle fries, steak bruschetta, stuffed burgers and a stacked BLT.

Guests can choose to sit on the patio and order drinks from an indoor bar that can open outside or relax inside, where the walls don TVs, team flags and movie posters. On weekends The Social Pub & Grill hosts live music.

“We wanted to create a laid-back place with music, food and sports,” Brown said. “A local neighborhood spot that anyone wanted to go to could.”

Before opening The Social Pub & Grill, which debuted in October 2017, Brown had owned and worked in several restaurants in the Greater Houston area, while Hearren worked in the oil and gas industry, Brown said.

The duo plans to take their concept beyond the Katy area, Brown said. In the next year or two Spring and The Woodlands residents will get the chance to experience the food, drinks and atmosphere Hearren and Brown have created.

“It’s a comfortable place where you can feel at home,” Deborah Allen said while sipping on a drink at the bar. “They’re always asking what they can do for you. They’ll do anything for you.”
