Construction has begun on residential units at Katy Boardwalk District, a 169-acre, mixed-use development on Kingsland Boulevard across from Katy Mills.
Sueba Development 181 LP, an affiliate of developer Sueba USA Corp., broke ground March 4 on the Boardwalk Lofts, a 319-unit apartment complex on Lakeview Way, according to a press release. A grand opening is planned for mid-2020.
When the Boardwalk Lofts is complete, it will offer one-, two-, and three-bedroom floorplans ranging from 480-2,087 square feet, per the release. Amenities will include two resort-style pools, outdoor cabana, grilling areas, fitness center, resident lounge and business center. Additionally, the units will have have stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, modern lighting and contemporary accents.
“[The property is] tailored for active working professionals who seek convenience, variety and an increasingly dynamic work-life balance,” according to the release.
Sueba Construction is the general contractor, and Sueba Consulting Inc. is the architect, per the release. Prosperity Bank is providing financing for the project.
Boardwalk Lofts is the first of two multifamily projects Sueba is developing at Katy Boardwalk District, according to the release. Sueba did not immediately respond to a request for a timeline for this project or other details. However, according to November data from Apartment Data Services, the second project is expected to have 350 units.
Along with a 90-acre lake and trails, Katy Boardwalk District will also include about 60,000 square feet of Class A office space and 155,000 square feet of dining and entertainment, according to the release. CBRE Group Inc.’s Lacee Jacobs is handling the leasing for the dining and entertainment tenants.
In January, Hyatt Regency was named as the hotelier for the district. Located next door to a 43,000-square-foot conference center, the hotel will have 300 rooms, a restaurant, bar, pool and fitness center. Construction on the hotel and conference center is expected to begin in the fall and complete in mid-2020.
