Katy ISD finalized the purchase of more than 157 acres at the intersection of Katy Hockley and Longenbaugh roads in early October. The newly purchased land is near the growing Elyson master-planned community, said Maria DiPetta, manager of media relations and multimedia for the district.
“Katy ISD is still in the preliminary stages when it comes to deciding what the land will be used for,” DiPetta said. “No final decision has been made, but it could potentially be for a high school or junior high.”
Any new campuses would join the district's 41 elementary schools, 15 junior high schools and nine high schools. One junior high and one high school will already be added next year, according to the district.
The purchase was approved by the KISD board of trustees in March, Dipetta said. Houston-based Rockspring Capital LLC was the previous owner of the land.
