Zazen Medical Group will open a new facility at the corner of AMC Drive and Kingsland Boulevard by September. The 14,000-square-foot facility will offer services specializing in gastroenterology and digestive conditions. “It’s a facility that is dedicated to providing holistic care and wellness,” founding physician Radha Tamerisa said. “It will have a medical spa component, [and] it will have a medical practice.” Tamerisa said the medical spa will provide services that include nutritional counseling, weight management, detoxification treatments and functional medicine consultations. “It will provide a nutritional approach to medical disease,” Tamerisa said. “We are going to do some aesthetics treatments as well that will compliment the care model.” Construction plans also allow for a retail component within the space, such as a cafe or potential pharmacy, but Tamerisa said those details are still being worked out. The facility will accept a hybrid of insurance and cash pay services, and will accept some insurance plans for medical practice services but the spa will not accept insurance, she said. Representatives from Heitkamp Swift Architects responsible for designing the facility said it will have a modern feel, and construction is expected to finish by the end of the summer. Tamerisa said she could start seeing patients in September.
