Katy ISD is offering free rapid COVID-19 testing to its enrolled students starting Aug. 23, according to a press release from the school district. The rapid test is available at Leonard Merrell Center, which will be open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Permission from a parent or guardian, as well as a reservation, is required for all students who are below 18 years old, according to the press release. Permission slips will be available at the testing site, and reservations should be made through this link.
The testing site has been open to KISD employees and their dependents since the summer, according to KISD Risk Management Director Lance Neuman. According to the press release, the free test is in collaboration with the Texas Education Agency COVID-19 testing project.
