Another death was reported by Harris County over the June 6-7 weekend. Before then, no new deaths had been reported by the county since April 20, when it began providing data at the ZIP code level.
Waller County has not reported a COVID-19 death across the entire county, and Fort Bend County is not providing the number of active cases, recovered cases and deaths at the ZIP code level.
The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the Katy area across seven ZIP codes is 1,314, according to data available at 4:45 p.m. June 10. This is a day-over-day increase of 30 compared to data available June 9.
The data comes from Harris, Fort Bend and Waller counties’ respective COVID-19 information dashboards. The total number of tests administered in each ZIP code is not immediately available.
Below is a breakdown of the coronavirus case data for Katy’s three counties. Note that of the seven ZIP codes, 77449, 77084 and 77094 fall fully in Harris County. ZIP code 77441 falls fully in Fort Bend County. However, ZIP code 77493 falls within Harris and Waller counties; ZIP code 77450 falls within Harris and Fort Bend counties; and ZIP code 77494 falls within Harris, Fort Bend and Waller counties.
Harris County
The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in six Katy-area ZIP codes in Harris County has reached 1,131, according to data available at 4:45 p.m. June 10 on the Harris County 2019 novel coronavirus dashboard.Active cases stand at 446, per June 10 data. This is a decrease of 14 from data reported June 8. Recovered cases grew to 675 or a day-over-day increase of 32, per June 9 and 10 data.
Deaths increased by one for a total of 10.
Countywide, Harris County has a total of 15,552 confirmed cases, of which 6,024 have recovered and 267 have died. There are 9,261 active cases in the county.
The Texas Department of State Health Services reported a total of 203,289 tests were administered in Harris County from April 21-June 9. The number of tests administered through June 9 is an increase of 1,998 from tests administered through June 8. The DSHS did not indicate whether these totals include diagnostic tests, antibody tests or both.
Fort Bend County
Fort Bend County’s Community Impact Dashboard is reporting only the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases since the beginning of the pandemic on the ZIP code level.According to data available at 4:45 p.m. June 10, the county is reporting a total of 177 confirmed cases in the Katy area. This is an increase of 11 from data reported on June 9.
Countywide, Fort Bend County reported a total of 2,299 confirmed cases, of which 898 have recovered and 47 have died. There are 1,354 active cases in the county, of which 23 are hospitalized.
The DSHS reported a total of 72,433 tests were administered in Fort Bend County from April 21-June 9. The number of tests administered through June 9 is an increase of 1,055 from tests administered through June 8.
Fort Bend County reported it has performed a total of 15,970 tests at its county-run sites since March 30. This is an increase of 396 from testing data reported June 9.
Neither the DSHS nor the county indicated whether these totals include diagnostic tests, antibody tests or both.
Waller County
County Judge Trey Duhon has not reported an update on the county’s coronavirus cases since 11:52 a.m. June 9. The Waller County webpage with COVID-19 case data has not been updated since June 1.This means according to data available as of 4:45 p.m. June 10, the two Katy-area ZIP codes in Waller County have a total of six confirmed cases, of which four have recovered and two are active.
Duhon said June 9 there are a total of 73 confirmed positive cases in the county since the pandemic began. Eighteen cases are active.
The Texas Case Counts COVID-19 dashboard states Waller County has a total of 85 positive cases, per data available at 5:20 p.m. June 10.

The number of tests administered through June 9 is an increase of nine from tests administered through June 8.
