Harris, Fort Bend and Waller counties reported a total of 448 new, confirmed positive coronavirus cases April 22 in seven Katy-area ZIP codes.

The counties reported 436 cases April 21 and 405 cases April 20. The counties are not providing the total number of public and private tests administered by the ZIP code level.

Katy area

Harris County

Beginning April 27, Harris County residents will be required to wear face coverings while in public. The requirement applies to residents age 10 and older and will be in effect for 30 days, or until May 26.

Fort Bend County


With the help of a new committee, Fort Bend County is making plans to distribute over $140 million from the CARES Act to further local COVID-19 relief efforts.

Statewide

Starting April 27, H-E-B locations across Texas will be open from 7 a.m.-10 p.m. Hours at Central Market locations will be expanded to 8 a.m.-10 p.m., and hours at Mi Tienda locations will be expanded to 7 a.m.-10 p.m.

Starting April 22, Hospitals across Texas have resumed offering certain elective procedures and surgeries under guidelines provided by Gov. Greg Abbott. However, hospitals area still required to reserve at least 25% of their capacity for COVID-19 patients.
