The job postings for Amazon.com Inc.’s new fulfillment center in West Katy went live Sunday, according to a spokesperson for the Seattle-based online retailer.

Amazon is building its 1 million-square-foot facility at 31819 Hwy. 90, Brookshire, which is within the city of Katy’s extraterritorial jurisdiction, according to Mayor Chuck Brawner. The land was annexed March 14, and City Council approved the project that month.
Duke Realty developed the site, according to the city.
Amazon is looking to fill at least 400 positions at the new location, with average pay starting around $12 per hour. On-the-spot job offers will be available, and shift schedules will vary, according to an announcement Friday.
Community Impact Newspaper previously reported that workers will pick, pack and ship customer orders, including electronics, sports gear and music equipment, according to company.
