IMPACTS: A recap of expansions, anniversaries and other recent Katy developments


These five Katy area organizations recently celebrated anniversaries, post-Harvey re-openings or new growth.

1. Kingsland Baptist Church will open a second north Katy campus on the southwest corner of Stockdick School and Porter roads. Staff said the new campus will likely open in about three years, but a pop-up church will open Sundays at Bethke Elementary School, 4535 E. Ventana Parkway, Katy, starting Oct. 1.

Pop-up services will be offered at 9 a.m. as well as Kingsland Baptist’s ministries for children ranging from infants to high-schoolers. All mid-week programming offered at the church’s central location at 20555 Kingsland Blvd., Katy, will be available to members of the future north Katy campus. 281-492-0785.

2. Katy Family Dental Group celebrated its first anniversary in late August at 23530 Kingsland Blvd., Ste. 120, Katy. The practice offers general dentistry services, including exams, cleanings and digital X-rays. The business also offers Invisalign products. 281-396-4635.

3. RuizStudios Home Decor, which had its first anniversary Oct. 1 at 5625 Second St., Katy. The store closed for repairs due to Tropical Storm Harvey but has since reopened in mid-October. The store sells home and garden accessories, candles, luxury bedding, kitchenware, furniture and other items. Staff protected merchandise in anticipation of new sheet rock installation. 832-437-6436.

4. FNC Home Theater reached its first anniversary Oct. 15. The store is located at 24515 I-10, Ste. 800, Katy. The home entertainment store specializes in products such as home automation systems, home theaters, audio-visual equipment and security cameras. 281-888-0111.

5. Mattress Firm marked its first anniversary Sept. 6 for the store located at 24600 I-10, Ste. 1300, Katy. The franchise sells a variety of products, including mattresses, mattress protectors, mattress toppers, adjustable beds, bed frames and headboards. 281-665-1630.
