Officials with grocery store chain H-E-B announced the company is building a new grocery store at the intersection of FM 1463 and Fulshear Bend Drive in Fulshear.

“We’re still in the design and planning phase,” said Cyndy Garza-Roberts, public affairs director for the Houston region of H-E-B. “We’re hopeful that [it will open] in fall 2017. That’s a target date, [but] nothing has been finalized.”

Garza-Roberts said the area is a desirable location for a new store in large part because the FM 1463 corridor bordering Fulshear and the Cinco Ranch area of Katy is rapidly growing with new residential developments.

The intersection where the store will be located is on FM 1463 with Fulshear Bend Drive on the west side and Cinco Ranch Boulevard on the east side.

“We’re very anxious to expand there,” she said. “It will be an H-E-B that will be designed in a format that residents will be proud of. We do not do cookie-cutter stores. Each one has its own nuances. This one will be unique to the Fulshear area.”

The new grocery store is part of a series of new strip centers and businesses along the FM 1463 corridor stretching from FM 1093 to I-10. Development includes a Memorial Hermann Urgent Care clinic at the intersection of FM 1463 and Fulshear Bend Drive.
