These local businesses lent a hand after Harvey, Part 3: Remedy Roofing

The company used emergency tarps during the storm

Community Impact Newspaper contacted some of the several local businesses that contributed to relief efforts around Katy during and after Tropical Storm Harvey.

What they offer: The nationwide company was founded and is headquartered in the Katy area. It offers free inspections as well as residential and commercial repairs, ventilation, gutter, siding, and window and door renovations.

How they helped: As Harvey dropped a deluge of rainfall over the community, the company received more than 600 emergency calls, mostly associated with leaking roofs, chief communication officer Stephan Bergmann estimated.

Roofers were dispatched to place emergency tarping on homes for Katy-area residents to help minimize storm damage and prevent minor roof leaks from worsening.

“We got hundreds of inquiries from the Katy area alone. We did about 100 emergency tarps and many more small repair jobs during that time,” Bergmann said.

The company recommends that homeowners affected by the storm have their roofing inspected by a professional. Remedy Roofing suggests that homeowners do not climb their roofs to attempt inspections but should instead look for missing shingles, damage to support work, and check for leaks near the walls and in attics, he said.
