Each year Houston residents have the opportunity to do their part in tackling hunger by participating in Houston Restaurant Weeks, a monthlong event that raises funds for the Houston Food Bank. The annual event returns for the 16th year Aug. 1-Sept. 2, during which patrons can dine at any of the 250 participating restaurants in the Greater Houston area. A portion of proceeds from each meal will benefit the food bank. Participating restaurants will serve specially priced, multicourse prix fixe menus that include brunch, lunch and dinner. Three dollars from every $20 brunch or lunch will generate nine meals at the food bank, while $5 and $7 from every $35 and $45 dinner will generate 15 and 21 meals, respectively. Houston Restaurant Weeks began announcing this year’s participating restaurants July 15 and will continue adding to the list until Aug. 1. The annual event is the largest fundraiser of its kind in the U.S. “Houston Restaurant Weeks gives people in Houston an opportunity to experience Houston’s exceptional restaurants while providing much-needed relief for families suffering from hunger,” Houston Food Bank CEO Brian Greene said. “We are grateful to once again be the beneficiary of this incredible event.” As of July 16, six restaurants in the Katy area are participating in this year’s event.
