Katy City Council approved the use of about $1.5 million for an expansion project along Pitts Road in northwest Katy.

Construction on the Pitts Road Boulevard Expansion Project is expected to begin mid-December and be completed by mid-May 2024, according to city representatives during Katy City Council’s Oct. 23 meeting.
Leaders for the Katy Development Authority were authorized to begin this project with Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County funds after a unanimous vote from council.
The Pitts Road project—which will run 3,700 feet from Cane Island Parkway to Morton Road—will complete work along the road, according to Oct. 23 Katy City Council meeting documents. The project will also add:
- Two additional travel lanes
- Associated turn lanes
- Median cuts
- Drainage inlets
After receiving 16 bids for the project, the KDA awarded a contract to Allgood Construction Services LLC on Oct. 16, according to Oct. 23 meeting documents.
- Allgood’s bid was to construct the project for about $1.12 million.
- The remaining cost of the project—$376,475—is made up of contingencies, materials testing, and construction management and observation services.
