A new type of assisted living facility has opened its doors in Fulshear.

The overview

Aspen Cove Assisted Living owners Jon and Michelle De Los Reyes, Nguyen Vo and Hong Duong have transformed a home into a facility for 11 seniors to receive around-the-clock care. Michelle De Los Reyes is a nurse practitioner, while Duong is a pharmacist.

Residents at the facility will receive monitoring and check-ups from health care professionals, medication management, daily meals and can participate in fitness activities, according to its website.

The details

The facility, aimed at providing a home-like feel, has been renovated to include a spacious living area, accessible bathrooms, hallways with grab bars and personalized touches such as a three-piece painting by Duong’s father, Jon De Los Reyes said.

“From our spacious living room for gatherings and therapies to our in-home salon, everything is designed to bring comfort and joy without residents needing to leave home,” he said.

Notable quote

“We want to build a home where our grandmothers would move in and be happy ... that was the biggest thing,” Jon De Los Reyes said. “We didn’t think that our grandmothers would be happy in an apartment or a big box building, so we want [our seniors] to feel at home.”

Looking ahead

Jon De Los Reyes said the team envisions an assisted living home in every community and is aiming at extending services to 100 seniors in the next five years.
