Multiple delays will keep the 10th Street bridge in Katy closed for construction for 88 more days.

The gist

At a Jan. 27 meeting, Katy City Council approved the extension for the 10th Street bridge replacement project following delays.

According to agenda documents, delays include:
  • Third party utility relocations and water line material procurement
  • Installation of an isolation valve by a third-party subcontractor
  • Weather
Construction began in July and was originally slated to be completed by mid-February.

The $2.88 million replacement is being constructed by John Reed and Company LLC, with construction management and inspection services by ARKK Engineers.

Beyond bridge repairs, the project also includes:
  • Channel improvements
  • Grading, or reshaping the land at the construction site
  • Storm sewer and water line installations


The project is being funded by the Texas General Land Office.

Going forward


Construction is now anticipated to be complete in April, City Engineer David Kasper said.
